Over a decade ago, I was the first person to go on record for the abuse and harrassment dealt out by Anthony Pellicano. This included getting a restraining order against Seagal and his thugs. Although they have long denied it, Marty Singer, Julius Nasso and Steven Seagal hired Pellicano to put together a knock down packet and harass not only me, but my family and my two small children. There are several stories I could share with you from my car catching on fire when I tried to start it with my children inside to receiving photos of my children with their death certificates and blood splattered on photos of them at their school playground to several instances where I was attacked by "thugs"..... Could it have been someone like A. Proctor that also was hired to attack Anita Busch for covering Seagal's connections to the mafia? Whether it was Proctor or another thug, the method of operation for these guys is quite well known. The sad thing is that very few people have had the courage to speak out. To speak out, you risk your life, your family's lives, your reputation, career and everything else you can imagine. I have been fortunate in that regard. Although I was nearly killed, my name and reputation dragged through the mud, I'm still here. I survived. Now, almost a decade later, the truth is coming out. Many, including Anthony Pellicano and Julius Nasso are serving their time in prison. After going underground and living as other people for my safety for three years, I met many other victims that had lost their lives as they had known them. My primary interest here is giving a voice to the "everyday" victims of Anthony Pellicano. The media is quick to discuss all of the various "high rollers" in Hollywood, from Steven Seagal, Brad Grey, John McTiernan etc., I know all of these people. But what about the aspiring actresses and others that were seriously violated by this man. I was a victim or I should say survivor. I was one of the first, if not THE first person to go on the record about the evils of these men 12 years ago. When I filed my restraining order against Steven Seagal, Marty Singer and Anthony Pellicano were the first people to start a campaign of harrassment against me. It almost got me killed, nearly ruined my life and yet, I'm still here... LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) May 12, 2003 The Global Medical Relief Fund on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 launched a drive to bring a limbless Iraqi orphan who became the symbol of civilian suffering in the US-led war to the United States for medical treatment. In the frenzy of organizing this very worthwhile cause there has been some confusion in the specific involvement of celebrities that needs to be clarified immediately, stated Bora Vukadinovic of Miracle Mile Films and President of The Global Medical Relief Fund.

Just because we can get concert tickets donated and props from films does not imply that the celebrities are officially endorsing anything in any way. That was never our intention. In fact, when mentioning celebrities on the childs hero wish list, we had simply talked about our admiration and respect for their humanitarian efforts on behalf of children and were hoping that they would be supportive. Some reporters, jumped the gun and made assumptions that simply are not true. clarified Cheryl Shuman a volunteer helping to organize the effort.

Maria Conchita Alonso, actress and friend contacted Arnold Schwarzenneger personally. Arnolds personal assistant Jennifer responded with offers of a letter of encouragement and autographed t-shirts for the child.

Polo Molina, Concert Promoter and Tour Manager for the Black Eyed Peas--opening act for the Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake tour offered to donate concert tickets and other items for auction. Several names are on the celebrity wish list for the child Cheryl Shuman told Agencie France Presse. "We've just launched this campaign, but my plan is to reach out to as many celebrities as possible to help in any way we can. Whether its autographing their latest CD or performing in the benefit concert or filming a public service announcement, any help is so very greatly appreciated. I want to make it very clear that we are in no way stating that these celebrities are official spokespersons, rather asking all celebrities and behind the scenes friends that weve worked with over the years to pitch in and help!

Bora Vukadinovic added, I have privately financed this operation with hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years, and whether celebrities support us or not, we WILL help this child!

On Wednesday, May 14, 2003, GMRF representatives, Elissa Montanti, Founder and Chairwoman and Asver Glusac, Executive Director will travel to Kuwait to meet with physicians treating Ali Ismaeel Abbas, an Iraqi child who sustained injuries during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Ms. Montanti and Mr. Glusac will meet with Ali's treating physician, Dr. Imad Najada, MD and Dr. Shatti the Director of the Kuwaiti Health Ministry. The airline tickets for the mission were proudly donated by British Airways and additional support donated by the Shriners Organization.

A few days later President of GMRF, Boro Vukadinovic will follow with Vice President Maria Conchita Alonso Singer/Actress along with camera crew to document our efforts to help Ali and other Children. The GMRF is working with Kuwaiti and US authorities to bring children like Ali to the US for treatment and rehabilitation. Once on the ground in Kuwait, the GMRF will meet with Ali's physician's and family to discuss the possibility of him coming to the US for treatment. Several other children will also be discussed.

Ali, who was last week undergoing medical treatment in Kuwait for burns that cover 40% percent of his body, had both arms amputated above the elbow in Baghdad last month after he was caught in a US missile strike on March 30.

He was the sole survivor among 20 killed, including his parents, brothers and sisters, when the deadly projectile hit his family home in Al Zafiriya and the world media quickly seized on him as a symbolic victim and launched a high-profile campaign to save his life.

The fund is a non-profit organization that helps children who have fallen victim to the horrors of war that operated in the conflict in the former Yugoslavia.

She's Hollywood's 'optician to the stars' - from Tom Cruise to Julia Roberts, when the celebs choose their specs, they turn to Cheryl Shuman.

'I had no idea my little venture would turn into such a big business,' says Cheryl, an ex-model who was forced to change careers following a car accident, and retrained as an optician in 1984. Since then, she's worked on more than 3,000 film and TV projects over the past 19 years, including Tomb Raider, The Terminator, When Harry Met Sally, Mission: Impossible, Erin Brockovich, ER and Friends.

Michael Jackson was Cheryl's first star customer. As crowds of fans formed outside the optician's where Cheryl worked, she had the idea that would make her fortune. 'It was obviously uncomfortable for him with everyone staring, so I offered to make house calls.' Jacko recommended her to his friends and before she knew it, Cheryl had a string of celeb clients.

But things really got moving when she landed her first film job on Postcards From The Edge. 'I took 3,000 frames to the set - and discovered nobody had ever offered that service before. I'd hit the jackpot. Now I consult on just about every movie in Hollywood,' Cheryl says. 'With each new project, the studio sends me a script and a breakdown for each character, and I come up with the glasses I imagine they'd wear.

One of my big breaks was working on When Harry Met Sally with Meg Ryan. She went through 2,000 frames, but didn't like any of them. But as I was leaving, I put my own glasses on, and Meg said, "They're exactly what I want!" After the movie came out, an incredible 13,000 pairs were sold across the US.'

Recognising the demand, Cheryl created a range of glasses identical to those worn by the stars on screen, called 'Starry Eyes'. When Arnold Schwarzenegger sported the infamous wraparound shades in The Terminator, Cheryl was responsible for a staggering pounds 13 million worth of sales of that design. Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts also guarantee big sales.

'I first worked with Tom on Risky Business in 1983, where I chose a pair of old Ray Bans for him, because I just happened to have those frames in my prop box,' she says. But the design she created for Tom in Mission: Impossible didn't come quite so cheap. 'In the film, he receives radio messages from his shades, which self-destruct, so we had to modify them - at a cost of pounds 20,000,' Cheryl explains. 'But Tom's easy to work with - he just says, "Make me look good."

'Julia was lovely too. I worked with her on Erin Brockovich - we chose glasses in an upswept, cat-eyed shape to show off her great cheekbones.'

Though Cheryl has 10,000 frames in stock, she often has to design custom specs for a character. 'When I worked with Angelina Jolie on Tomb Raider, they wanted shades that fitted close to her face because the film involves a lot of running and jumping. Angelina said, "Don't make me look like a man!" But she's so beautiful, I just said, "How could I possibly do that?"' she laughs.

Many of the stars Cheryl has worked with have become good friends. 'Russell Crowe gets all his sunglasses from me,' says Cheryl. 'And Demi Moore has one of the best collections I've ever seen,' she adds. 'She has frames to go with every outfit. But Elton John is the king of glasses! Price is no object. We had one pair that spelled out "ELTON" with lights that went on and off, which cost pounds 5,000. But the most expensive I've made him were hand-jewelled Cartier frames, with a panther sprawled around the lenses in diamonds and emeralds - for a staggering cost of pounds 36,000.'

One thing the stars have in common is they all want to look special. 'They know I work on all the films, and ask, "What's she wearing?" There's no way they want to be seen wearing the same thing.'

Still, Cheryl says the studios want their money's worth. 'They have all my phone numbers, and they don't hesitate to use them. There have been times when I've gone back into the office at 11pm and not left until 4am. In Hollywood, time is money.'
